In this work, the powerful presence of water and ice, which shape the character of Iceland, unfolds. The wide blue tones that dominate the picture make the water appear as an immense, living surface, while the bright, sculptural form on the right of the picture is reminiscent of an ice formation or a glacier that silently watches over the endless expanse of the sea.

The flowing brushstrokes suggest the movement of water – gentle waves moving to the rhythm of nature, while the horizon in the distance is streaked with mysterious cloud formations.
