Description

This work by Heinz Möseneder from 1995 is based on the ancient tale from Ovid's "Metamorphoses". Using mixed media on paper, the artist interprets the scene in which man and nature merge in a unique way. The earthy yellow and brown tones, combined with delicate lines, create an atmosphere of timelessness and change. The organic forms suggest movement and transformation, which are at the centre of Ovid's work. Möseneder shows how the human form is embedded in the landscape, symbolising the unity between man and nature. The subtle colouring and texture give the painting an almost archaeological quality, as if it comes from a time long past.
