Description
The work Versenkung I from 1980 shows an intense and atmospheric depiction of inner contemplation and deep reflection. In the dark, rich blue tones of the lower part of the picture, a shadowy figure rises from the depths, surrounded by subtle structures and shades. The textures and layers of colour suggest movement and transformation, while the blue of the background has a mystical, almost cosmic quality. The light in the upper part of the picture possibly symbolises a search for transcendence or a higher consciousness.
The technique used, watercolour on handmade Japanese paper, brings a unique transparency and an almost dreamlike depth to the work, enhancing the emotions and symbolism of immersion.
