Description

The work "Pillars of St. Margarethen" is a tribute to the impressive art of sculpture and the natural characteristics of the sand-lime quarry in St. Margarethen. In this work, the artist Heinz Möseneder's inspirations from the world of sculpture merge with painting to create a powerful, symbolic scene.

The two towering columns, which are painted in reddish-brown and light colours, are reminiscent of imposing, hand-carved stone figures or natural rock formations. They seem to stand like sentinels in a calm, almost ethereal landscape dominated by white and beige tones. The left-hand column features organic, flowing lines that create a connection to living nature, while the right-hand column is designed in geometric shapes reminiscent of the precise work of a sculptor.

The whitish environment surrounding the columns conveys a frosty atmosphere or the idea of fog, which bathes the work in a mysterious light. This element creates depth and at the same time emphasises the sublimity and timelessness of the stones, which, like monuments, tell of eternity and transience.

The painting invites the viewer to reflect on the relationship between man and nature, as well as the role of art in leaving its mark on the world. It could act as a meditative focal point in a modern living space or gallery, bringing calm and depth to the surroundings with its subtle colour palette.
