Description

In this extraordinary bronze relief from 1981, Heinz Möseneder combines natural and abstract forms to create a powerful depiction of creation and new life. Voluptuous, organically flowing structures seem to emerge from the depths of the material whilst simultaneously reconnecting with their surroundings. The composition is reminiscent of protective shells, embryonic forms and human bodies – symbols of origin, growth and constant transformation.

The vividly textured surface of the bronze alternates between rough textures and gently polished areas. When light falls upon it, a captivating interplay of shadows and warm lustre emerges, lending the relief a sensual depth and a striking presence. Movement and stillness, security and a sense of new beginnings come together in a harmonious balance.

“New Life I” is a rare and particularly significant example of Heinz Möseneder’s work. For a long time, the relief was considered unsaleable – a testament to its exceptional artistic and personal significance.
