Description
In this rare copper relief from 1984, Heinz Möseneder depicts a quiet, introspective figure. The slightly inclined posture and the hinted-at face convey a moment of deep reflection, whilst the figure appears to merge with its only sketchily defined surroundings. Delicate lines, engravings and bold marks of the artist’s hand lend the work a sense of both tranquillity and inner movement.
The warm hues of the copper and the multi-layered texture of the surface mean that the work takes on a constantly changing appearance depending on how the light falls. Light reflections and darker, patinated areas engage in a vibrant interplay, creating a unique sense of spatial depth. Light itself thus becomes an integral part of the composition.
‘Play of Light in Copper’ is a rare example of Heinz Möseneder’s work. The relief exudes a calm, almost meditative presence and invites the viewer to pause and explore the hidden traces, forms and moods of its surface.
